Theatre Automation

In the winter of 2019, I worked with my two staff colleagues to create a conference session for Students in Themed Entertainment (SITE). Our session took place in our department's proscenium venue where we were able to demonstrate a broad variety of rigging and automation techniques, including those being utilized in our current production, Her Naked Skin by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. These included a full stage turntable and automated rigging lines, all operated by a single computer station. Participants were able to run cues themselves and even stand on the scenery during the movement, helping the engineers and designers get a better sense of what the actors undergo during automation cues.
