In 2019, the Bachelor of Arts Theatre program had not changed since the university switched to semesters from the old quarter system. Although it was strong, the time was right for a targeted revision to address points of friction, update the shape of the program, and improve pedagogical strategy.
As Director of Undergraduate Studies, I led the revision of the program that reshaped how we teach the history and literature of our field, created new production options, and created a new Experiential Learning requirement, all without impacting the overall credit hours required.
We also reimagined how we assess the success of the program by creating a new, six-part assessment regimen that uses direct and indirect methods to gauge progress across the various learning goals of the BA.
