In 2020, the Master of Fine Arts program in Design offered three design disciplines: scenery, costumes and lighting. The program was strong but suffered from disciplinary siloing, a lack of support for digital design tools, and a curriculum that strayed slightly from the NAST guidelines.

I lead the revision of the MFA program, a three-year process of research, reflection, and outreach to students and professionals. In addition to addressing the original concerns, the revised program provides more opportunities for grad designers to collaborate, maximizes course enrollments and efficiencies, supports the additional discipline of media design, and makes curricular use of our robust Lawrence & Lee Theatre Research Institute.
